On Friday, conducted the formal handover of-headed SAE ISAF MEDEVAC at a ceremony in Hangar A at Camp Marmal in Mazar-i-Sharif. Signed handed over to OVLT Harri Larsson, university of toronto under the supervision of Ov Rickard Johansson, Head of the Swedish contingent in Afghanistan. In conjunction with the ceremony, was awarded university of toronto the staff, who, together with me, served university of toronto in the unit since March, contingent's (FS21) shield.
I have now worked at this task since the autumn university of toronto of 2005. Then began the preparations for the Swedish helicopter unit would be part of the Nordic Battle Group in 2008, which in many respects is the basis for the device as it appears here in Afghanistan today.
It has been a long and comprehensive journey. Everything has of course not been "ice cream and balloons" but I would say that we have made very significant progress in several areas. The delays in the modification of our helicopters has obviously been very frustrating and we have faced many other challenges too. Nevertheless, university of toronto I can say that today we deliver a requested and appreciated the ability here in Regional Command North. We are established on the base and in the area, we are "1st Up" when it comes Tactical MEDEVAC and as a bonus, we have learned a tremendous amount that will bring the Helicopter Wing and Air Force forward. I am proud of what we have achieved university of toronto so far and it will be the staff and all those who contributed during the preparation and effort also.
Many people have asked me if I crave from here and it will be nice to get rid Afghanistan. I've actually honestly answered no to the question. I'm dying not from anything. I long for anything. It spelled the family and Norrbotten with clear and healthy autumn days (and maybe some sleep ...).
