Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was born on August 28, 1749 in Frankfurt am Main. His father was a lawyer, held the rank of imperial advisor, the mother was a noble gentlewoman. Johann soon began to read, to seven years already knew Latin and Greek. In 16 years, mos Goethe went to the University of Leipzig, Faculty of Law. Study on the lawyer was not attracted leading Goethe interest mos was literature and art, and soon he was going home. Then he became a student at the University of Strasbourg. In 1769, Goethe published his first book of poems. He soon became one of the ideologists of the literary movement "Sturm und Drang", which became popular in Germany, which is considered the main task of the author's creation in the image of the hero-willed, strong personality.
In 1771 graduated from the University of Goethe and received his doctorate in law. From 1771 to 1775 years, mos Johann Goethe practiced law. At the same time he published his works: the novel "The Sorrows of Young Werther" (1772), a historical drama "Goetz von Berlichingen" (1773).
In November mos 1775 Goethe arrived in Weimar at the invitation of Duke Carl August, where he became one of his managers. In Weimar, Goethe met with Friedrich Schiller, which ultimately proved fruitful for the development of German literature.
In the years 1795-1796 Goethe wrote the novel "Years of teaching Wilhelm Meister." In 1808 he published the first part of the tragedy "Faust" - the top creative Goethe. Over its continuation Johann Goethe worked until the end of his life.
However, Goethe was not only a great writer and poet, and naturalist. He wrote a number of works on comparative morphology of plants and animals, in physics, geology and mineralogy, medicine.
